Limits on number of Document variables

L

Lloyd

Can anyone tell me what the limitations are for Document
variables?

e.g.,
1. How many doc variables can a document have?
2. Are doc variables fully accessible through documents
based on a template with doc variables in them?
3. Can doc variables contain carriage return characters?
4. Can certain doc variables be associated with other
doc variables, as in a 2-dimensional array?

Thanks for any help with this.

Hi Lloyd,
1. How many doc variables can a document have?

2. Are doc variables fully accessible through documents
based on a template with doc variables in them?
If you mean, are the doc variables present in a doc created
from a template with variables, yes. But you have no access
to the variables in the template (unless you open the
template).

With doc Properties, you can also access the template's
properties
3. Can doc variables contain carriage return characters?
Yes, but you might run into problems if you insert them
into tables. Depends on the version and the circumstances.
4. Can certain doc variables be associated with other
doc variables, as in a 2-dimensional array?
I don't understand exactly what you're asking, but I think
the literal answer is No.
