Line Connector -- Straight Line

I'm sure this is an easy one... still, I can't find the right answer and it's
driving me "funny".

I want to connect let's say a Decision box with a Process. I use the
"Connector Tool" icon (next to "Pointer Tool"). It does connect the 2
"boxes" properly with an arrow on the "receiving box".... so far so good.

Now, I try to just create a straight line; however, each time my line has
this tiny e.g. "down - then right" shape. I understand that sometimes that
shape is required to connect shapes that might be positioned vertically.

I tried to use the "Line Ends" icon... but that one doesn't automatically
connect my boxes.

So, my question: How can I create a >> truly straight << automatic line
connection without moving the boxes up and down? And even if I do the
latter and the line looks straight, it isn't in print preview or on my
hardcopy.

Are you seeing a small "zig-zag" in the line? That is typically caused by
the two shapes neing not quite aligned. Select both shapes and go to Shape
Align Shapes to line them up.

It is also possible to tell Visio to use a straight line by right-clicking
on the connector. However, this may make the connector slightly diagonal if
the real problem is the alignment issue above.
