Line spacing in notebook view

I changed the Normal doc so that there isn't the 10 space after. But on the notebook view lines i still can't get it to be on the line, rather it still has that space afterwards. I opened a word doc on a school computer and it didn't have that problem (they have office 2008 as well). and for some reason i can't install hte 12.02 service pack. is there anyway to fix this issue with notebook view? so far i've been typing note, and then going to print view to change the spacing. also, the problem occurs when i use the tab function and the bullets. if i just hit enter, it will go to the next line and have it snapped, although not all the time

Notebook View uses styles to create the view. You need to change the styles
in Notebook View and you need to check "Save to template" when you do that.

This change will affect only new documents: existing documents must be
changed individually.
