Line spacing in Word 2004

When opening a document created in Word (Office Version X) with Word
(Office Version 2004) line spacing in both the body and header are changed
(widened). All margin and line space settings appear to be the same
between the documents, however there is a visible difference when viewing
the documents side by side. Any idea how to fix this?

I wonder if playing around with the Compatibility options in the
preferences would have an effect here. m.

Changing compatiblility options did correct the problem in the document.
Thank you. The problem that I am having now is that it appears that I will
now have to change compatibility settings on every "older" document that I
open. Any way around this?
