HELP!! Driving me nuts, I have just bought Office Mac Home & Student 2008. For some reason in word the line spacing is set to a default of 10pts after you press return to type text on next line. It leaves a big space like:
Example:

The Sun is shining

and the rain is falling.

But I want it to default at

The sun is shining
and the rain is falling.

I can fix it by going into Format>Paragraph, BUT I sometimes have to do it for EVERY line, and then the next time I go into word I have go though the same process again. Where can I find the default setting to have 0pt spacing where it doesn't leave a gap and where I don't have to change it every time I use word, that I can make it automatic and never have to think about it again. I have experimented in all the word compatibility options and have been unable to find anything ie. changed into to word compatibility 95 but makes no difference. Why has the new Mac 2008 word been set like this nobody writes any document leaving such enormous space? HELP!! going crazy, I work in word alot, I'm sure its the simpliest thing but How? Where? Thankyou, any tips appreciated, TreeMonkey

Change the Normal style in the Normal template. To do that, click on
Format>Style, make sure Normal is selected and click on the Modify button.
In the Modify Style dialogue, click on the dropdown button ("Format") in the
lower left corner and choose Paragraph from the list. In the Paragraph
window, set the Spacing After from 10pt to 0pt. Click on OK, and back in the
Modify Style window, check the box next to Add to template. Hit OK, then
Apply, and if you now quit and reopen Word, the spacing should be back to
normal again.

Alternatively, you could simply click on Help>Check for Updates and download
the SP1 update, which should fix the problem by itself.
