Line Spacing Problems

When I hit the enter key instead of my document single
spacing as formatted the next line starts about 1.6
inches from the previous line. The format is correctly
set at single spacing.

Please help.

Check the settings for "Spacing before and after" in
Format>Paragraph.

And make sure that vertical alignment (Layout tab of Page Setup) is set to
Top and not Justified.

Thanks Greg. It turns out it was a problem with the page
alignment. I corrected by making "Top" the default
alignment.
