line spacing

L

Lost in Seattle

In PowerPoint 2003 there is a tool for increasing line spacing and one for
decreasing line spacing. You can increase or decrease line spacing while
watching the slide so that you can stop when the line is where you want it.
For the life of me I can't find this in PowerPoint 2007.

HELP! I use thiese two tools all the time in 2003 and find it extremely
difficult to get the correct line spacing when I have to put in a number and
then check to see if it is correct. Does anyone know how to find this in 2007
or create it.

Thanks.

Hi,

Right click on any button on the Ribbon| *Customize Quick Access Toolbar* |
Under *Choose Commands from* select the *Home Tab*, then look for the Line
Spacing button. You can move this to your Custom set on the right and it
will be available in the little toolbar. Unfortunately, you can't drag this
off to somewhere useful.

Thing is, the increase and decrease line spacing buttons aren't in the list
so you can add them to the QAT.

I'm not sure, but I suspect it's got something to do with the fact that our
line spacing is now based on that in Word. If you click the dialog launcher
on the Paragraph group (Home tab), you'll see the before/after is in points,
not in lines -- and it changes in 6-pt increments when you hit the arrows
there, just as Word does. Same with the line spacing itself -- it's based on
Word. (Grrrr.)

Setting the line spacing to "multiple" and using 1 for single space and .95,
..9, .85, etc., for tighter-than-single spacing is what you must now do.

You can also get to this dialog by clicking the arrow beside the line
spacing button on the Paragraph group (Home tab) and then selecting "more
options" from the dropdown.

I put the Paragraph icon on the QAT. If you put the Line Spacing tool on the
QAT, you still have to click and choose "More Options," so it's more
clicks....

IIRC, John Wilson may know more about this.

Good memory!

I wrote a quick add in for Todd Dunn at PPTLive (which is great - Go in
2009!!!) last Year to enable "live" line spacing

Sadly I didn't bother to back it up as it was a one off and my Vaio has
since died!. If Todd is listening and posts a copy back to me I'll update it
a little and post it as a freebie.
