Line without connections?

Hi
I am trying to make a symbol of a diamond with a cross in it. The diamond
needs connection points at its corners only.
I've tried lots of grouping and protection options, but can't prevent the
cross inside the shape from trying to connect to the edge of the shape when
it's moved a bit.
This results in the cross changing shape.
Can I make a cross whose shape is protected and whose end points won't try
and connect with other shapes?

Is the cross a 1-D shape? You could make it 2-D under Format > Behavior.

Yes the cross is "d.
Further experiments showed that the problem is actually with the diamond's
corners. If I remove the connection points (and use dynamic glue) the
unwanted behaviour stops.
Not sure how this will work in diagrams though, as I need the connections on
the points!
Will keep trying.

Go to Tools > Snap & Glue to customize what parts of shapes can be glued.
