Lines across cells

I am using a spread sheet at work that was created by someone else who has
now moved on. My problem is that on some of the pages there are 2 lines, one
looks like a border at the bottom of some of the cells and then immediately
below it there is another line. The lines start half way across the cell and
then stretch across a number of cells and then stop half way across the last
cell. I have tried ev erything i can think of to get rid of them. You can't
see them in print preview nor do they appear when the sheet is printed. If I
delete the cells above they move up, if i delete the cells below they move
down, so i deleted just the cells above and below the lines and moved the
other cells left. The lines have disappeared but it has left a dot in the the
top, left corner of one of the cells. It's driving me nuts, your help would
be appreciated.

Hi Lynda,

It could be a collapsed chart. Try going to the drawing toolbar
and click on the Select Multiple Objects tool button, then in
the dialog box, click on any object that is not supposed to be there
and click OK. If some handles appear at both ends of the line
you can just tap delete.

The Drawing toolbar is usually at the bottom of your screen.
If it is not showing go to View>Toolbars>Drawing.
The Select Multiple Objects button looks like this.
A small cursor arrrow on top of a small grey square on top
of a small white square.

Martin, you are a legend. As soon as i mentioned your response at work all
the so called 'gurus' went "of course". You fixed my problem, thank you.
