lines and overlayered circles for Venn Diagram

F

Fran

I'm writing a student workbook using Word 97 and have a
need to do two things that I haven't been able to figure
out:

1) write paragraphs with some sentences underlined as
well as leaving blank underlined areas for student writing
in the same paragraph

2) create a Venn Diagram by overlaying a circle on top of
another circle. When I do this, it eliminates the line
that creates the intersecting portion that I need.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thannks, Keith. I've solved the Venn problem with the No
Fill and I'll be trying your line solution here soon.

Fran:

[a] In the underlined paragraphs, are you thinking of a
fill-in-the-blank appraoch, or more a question with some
lines at the end of the paragraph for responses?

If you want to insert some blank spaces, you can do that
quick & dirty by just using Shift+hyphen. If you want
nice neat lines at the end, Type the question, press
Enter, then add a right-aligned tab (Format -> Tabs)with
an underline dot leader; press Tab to make the line
appear, press Enter, then Tab to make a second line;
repeat the Enter-Tab sequence to make more lines.

You might be better off creating the Venn diagram in
PowerPoint if you have it. Draw a cirlce and give it a
fill of 'None'. Duplicate it using CTRL+D and overlap the
circles.
When you're done, select all the circles and group them,
then copy the group and paste it into Word.

If you need more in-depth directions on any of the above
processes, feel welcome to ask.
