Lines Between Columns

I have a newsletter page that is formatted to be double column. I want to
place a 0.5 point line between the columns.

Right clicking within the double columns then clicking on format text
box>colors and lines then clicking the box in preview that is for the center
line only nothing happens to the menu on the left. The "dashed", "style" and
"weight " boxes are grayed out.

Out of the six boxes shown there, the only two that activate the above
quoted boxes are the two on the right of the bottom row (frame and frame
with line down the middle).

I know I must be missing something real simple, but for the life of me I
can't figure it out.

Any help on this problem will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

question from the curious:

is the text box defined as having two collumns?

That is exactly what I have done. The preview box on the top shows a grayed
out line on the top and bottom. The weight and style boxes are also grayed
out.

Select the textbox, on the toolbar, Lines, more lines, choose the center button,
expand color, choose color, once you choose the color the other options become
available.

I have two columns of text staring me in the face with a dotted line going
down the center between the two columns. Print preview shows the dotted line
as white space.

Again, the only preview boxes that will work are the one that shows a border
around the complete page and the one on the right of that that shows a full
border with the line down the middle. Those two choices will open the style
and weight boxes with the choices available.

Thank you.
