lines getting cut off

G

a memo template that I've updated from the 2003 version to a 2007 version
moves the first few lines of text up when printing.

I.E. the page looks like this
{top of page}
1
2
3
4

but the file prints like this
1
2
{bottom of previous page}
{top of page}
3
4

Also, though I haven't been able to recreate this, users tell me that the
first few lines on the first page just get cut off sometimes.

Any ideas as to the causes?

Without seeing the template, it is difficult to say exactly what this is but
some things it may be to try out.

An incompatible printer driver: test with a different printer set as Windows
Default.
They have toggled on the HideWhiteSpace option (check under View Menu).
Under Page layout, the Vertical Alignment has been set to Centre Align.
There's a superfluous blank paragraph at the start of the template which is
picking up a format with massive Space Before or Space After paragraph
formatting.

Unfortunately none of those seem to be the problem. However, when I changed
the Footer Position From Bottom to 0.0 from 0.25 only the first line got
moved up to the bottom of the first page.

Is there anywhere I can upload the template so that you can see it?

The Footer Margins need to be set to AT LEAST the minimum non-printable area
of you printer. This may be as small as 0.3cm on high-end lasers to as poor
as 3.4cm on older inkjets (especially the bottom margin)

If you have set the bottom margin to 0cm, the footer is definitely in the
non-printable area. Only professional printers have the capability of
printing close to the edge of the page and often printing right to the edge
(called bleeding) is achieved by using over-size pages and trimming off the
excess after printing.

My problem is that lines are getting moved to the bottom of the previous
page. By changing the footer margins and adding 2 blank lines at the bottom
of the footer I was able to change my result from this

1
2
--bottom of page 1--
--top of page 2--
3
4

to this

1
--bottom of page 1--
--top of page 2--
2
3
4

However the result should be this

--top of page 2--
1
2
3
4

That doesn't make sense. Footers are just that 'footers'. They cannot move
to the next page. Are you sure you have the page size set correctly?

Under Page Layout, do you have the vertical alignment set to Centre rather
than Top?
