Lingering window indicators in task bar

In Outlook 2007 whenever I create a new email or forward an email, after I
hit send and the window closes the window indicator which displays on the
taskbar remains. If I don't periodically restart Outlook I end up with a
taskbar full of these window icons. I've executed a repair to no avail.
Suffice it to say it's a bit of an annoyance. Does anyone know if this is a
'feature' or a bug and how to correct this?

Thanks.

Windows XP or Vista? It sounds like an issue with either Word or Explorer.
What happens if you click the taskbar icon. Does a window open? Do you
have all of Office 2007 installed?

I'm using XP-SP2. Nothing happens when I click on the taskbar icon and I
have the all of Office System 2007, the 'Ultimate' suite.

Do you have any add-ins installed in Outlook?
Do you have any Anti-Virus software installed?
Could you try a detect and repair on Office?
Out of curiousity, if you open a word doc and close it, does that keep an
icon on the task bar?
Also, when you're in this state, is there a winword.exe process in Task
Manager?

It would appear the latest Office update (KB932080) which was pushed 4/11
fixed the problem. There is nothing in the description of the update to
indicate this particular issue is fixed but after applying the update this
morning and working in Outlook for several hours I no longer experience the
problem.

Thank you for your suggestions and ideas. Should the problem return I iwll
definitely revisit your suggestions and pick up this thread again.
