Lining up numbers

In Word 2002, how do you format numbers to line up
properly underneath each other regardless of one, two, or
three digit. For instance 1. 2. 3., etc. 10. 11. 12.,etc.
100. 101. 102.

A *decimal* tab, as stated. An alternative to setting it from the ruler is
to go to Format | Tabs and select a decimal tab. Insert it anywhere; you can
always drag it on the ruler after it's inserted.

.
I set the decimal tab for right hand justified and still
got the following:
8. text
9. text
10.text
11.text

I'm not sure I understand setting "a decimal tab for right hand justified."
Are you inserting a tab character before your numbers? If this is an
autonumbered list, then the answer is entirely different; in that case you
have to select right alignment in the Format Numbering dialog.
