Link a table to a password protected excel file?

Is it possible to link an Access table to an Excel worksheet in a password
protected workbook? I have setup the linked table, and I can open the table
in Access after I have opened the Excel workbook. However, if I try to open
the table without opening the workbook, I get an error that says Access
cannot decrypt the file. Does anyone have any solutions to this issue? The
Excel file must remain protected. Thanks in advance for the help.
