Link a video in Visio 2003 map

I have Visio 2003 and I've created a process flowchart. I would like to be
able to click on one of the shapes in the flowchart and play a video in a
separate Windows Media Player window. I tried to link the video file directly
by <Insert>, <Object>, <Create from file>, choosing a video file from the
same directory as the vsd file, checked "Link to file" and <OK>. After
<File>, <Save as Web Page>, the link was not active. Do you have to create a
web page with the media player associated with the video file then create a
hyperlink in the VSD file before saving it as a web page for this to work?

Hello Di,

The Insert / Object is really for embedding another object in a Visio
document. If you want to add it to your Save As Web Page output you could
try the following:

1) Select your shape and add a hyperlink using Insert / Hyperlink, adding
the following in the Address field:

"MyVideoName.wmv"

2) File / Save As Web Page

3) Find the associated folder (for example if your saved file was called
"MyVisioWebPage.htm" then find the folder called "MyVisioWebPage_files" and
add you video file.

If you have a number of different videos you could add another folder named
"Video" to the above folder, in which case you just need to append your
links with the folder name:

"Video/MyVideoName.wmv"

Hope that helps.

Best regards

John
