Link appointment to contact in public folder

I have a public folder setup to store contacts in 2003.

8 sales people have permissions to view this folder.

I want them all to be able to link appointment to a contact in the folder.
So i set up activities tab to record this for one user, but it won't let me
do it for more than one. Is this possible or not?

I want to be able to look at a contact and see which salespeople have made
appointments with the contact.
