Link Bar not working properly in 2002

Hi,

I have added another Link Bar to an existing Web Page using one of the
standard Buttons from FP, by dragging the appropriate Page from the Folder
List into the Navigation structure.

When previewed in my Browser, the Link works and the Button appears.

After uploading to my Web Host, where the new Button should appear, there is
a box with a red cross in it although the Page opens when it is clicked.

Anyone know why this happens please?

Regards,

Griff.

How did you upload?
If you used FTP, did you also upload the hidden _derived folder which
contains the button images?
A URL to the site may get a better answer.

Thanks Ron,
How did you upload?

I use FTP Commander Pro.
If you used FTP, did you also upload the hidden _derived folder which
contains the button images?

No, I am sure that I didn't, would you know how this folder is identified?

Regards,

Griff.

Actually, I've been experiencing this very same problem
using FP 2003. The ONLY way I found to fix it was to
change the margin formatting meaning of the navigation
bar. I was using the navigation bar as "centered" and the
only way it fixed and allows the buttons to work properly
was to left justify the navigation bar. When I did that,
the image worked correctly.

As far as I'm concerned this is a major bug in FrontPage.
I prefer to have things centered on the page.

The only other option I can give you is what someone else
mentioned that I was not at all thrilled with and that was
to use text buttons rather than gif buttons.

Hope this information helps.

The _derived folder should only be hidden within FrontPage. In FTP
Commander (and any other FTP client) you should see it, named _derived.
There will be a _derived folder in every folder that contains pages that are
in the navigation view. These folders, and all their contents, should be
uploaded.

If you can Publish with FrontPage (not possible in some cases) all the
necessary folders/files will be uploaded.

Does your host support FrontPage extensions? If so, using FTP will corrupt
them. Ask your host to reinstall the extensions, then in FrontPage use
File->Publish to publish your web. In the Publish To dialogue enter your
website in the form http://www.domain.com or as instructed by your host.
(For FTP publishing use ftp://domain.com or as instructed by your host).
