link cell to different workbook

Hai..

I make a sheet in which certain cells are link to another cells in
another workbook (different file). When i try to open the link file,
and click the instruction to update the link cell, the cells appear as
#value!

or sometime when i edit to the source cell, the link cell wont
automatically update the information.

How come that happen? i want the link cell to be updated whenever the
source cell is edited..

anybody knows? pls help

When used with external workbook links, some excel functions only work correctly if the external workbook is open. Which excel
functions are you using this way?

calculation?
