Link file browse window

I've read several postings asking for help creating a browse window for
"finding" files for linking tables. Everyone I've read points to
http://www.mvps.org/access/api/api0001.htm
as a solution. Last Saturday I spent most of the day getting mine all set
up (using that resource).

THEN, while I was working on creating a custom toolbar, I "found" a "Link
Tables" icon option and sure enough, Access 2003 had one already available
for me!

My question is this: Why hasn't anyone mentioned this as a solution? Is
there something I'm missing? Is it unstable? Seems to be a slam-dunk
solution to me.

Most of us find writing our own code results in a less intrusive interface
for the users than the built-in Linked Table Manager.

The built-in linked tables manager is OK as long as a) all users have retail
Access installed and b) you trust the users to select the right database.
The API will work with the runtime, and you can add custom code to check
that the database the user selected contains the tables your application
expects.

What am I missing here? It appears to me the OP is talking apples and
oranges. Linking tables and browsering files using the API are totally
different animals.
