Link Mainframe DB2 files to MsAccess 2003 Front End

I'm new at this type connection, but comfortable with
Microsoft Access itself. Can anyone out there who has
been there and done that, point me in the right direction
to tell me what needs to be done to link to IBM Z/OS
operating system & IBM DB2 databases, to desktop
applications via network servers. We're running Microsoft
Office 2003 Enterprise Edition with latest patches,
Microsoft SQL Server 2000 with latest patches, Windows
2000 Operating system on desktop platforms with service
pack 4 installed. What kind of guidance can anyone
provide to help me get there and link this application to
DB2 tables. Is there a link wizard to use, or does it
have to be done via VB code? Any assistance would be
greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

hi,
on the access tool bar click file>get external data>link
a link dialog box will pop up. at the bottom in the type
of file box, click the down arrow and select ODBC databases
a select data source dailog box will pop up. click the
machine data sorce tab. you IBM DB2 should be there.(if it
is an ODBC database) select it and click ok. here you may
need a password. check with IT for a backdoor read only
password before you start this process.
next a link table dailog box will pop up. these should be
the tables you want to link to. select the ones you want.
to the right is a select all button. below that is a
remember passwork check box. check it. otherwise you will
have to re-enter the password everytime you run a query.
Drivers: i think the ODBC driver should do it but if you
run in to difficult, check with IT for an update.
