link problem. paste into browser works Front Page link doesn't?

when I past the below link into a new browser window it pulls the username of
the local computer into the new web page just fine

https://performancemanager.successf...modfear.com&password=happy&tklogin__key=happy

When I insert the link into my intranet via Front Page, it doesn't work.

Can anyone help?

You can't access the "system" via a web page or a link to a web page.

the issue is that the user name that is logged into the computer that is
clicking on the link is not passing through to the new page when the link is
clicked.

However, if, on the same system, I cut and past the exact url text in to the
browser that is contained in the link, the user name information passes
through just fine.

You can't access "any" system properties from a html document in a browser.
The username will show if you paste an address containing %username% into the IE address
bar on a client machine.
but you can not access %username% via a remote document open in a browser.
