Link tables between different versions of Access?

I have a db in Access 2000 that needs to remain in 2000 b/c not all users
have had their workstations upgraded to XP. This db needs to link to tables
in another db that was written in Access XP. When I try to do this, I get an
error b/c the 2000 db doesn't recognize the Access XP format. Is there any
way to do this, or must I convert the XP database to 2000?
Thanks
Angela

The data for multiple version users must reside in the lowest version database.
We ran a database that 95, 97, and 2000 but the data was on the 95 version
database. Everyone else had their own front end and linked to the tables in
the 95.

I can open the second db in 2002, but not in 2000. The error msg I get when I
try to link to its tables is "This database is in an unrecognized format.
This project may have been created with a later version of [database name]
than the one you are using.....". When I open the second db in 2002, I can
see that the file format is Access 2000. But I still get an error when I try
to link to its tables.....

2002 should be able to convert it back to 2000 format.
