a. No; the intent is not to access any site external to the
organization.
The organization has several production sharepoint instances. As part
of project server installation, the team created a sharepoint instance
in project server box. So, the sharepoint sites for all the projects
are created under this instance.
The users have already created sharepoint sites in production
sharepoint instance. Now that project server is also installed, they
now want the ability to link to the site they have already created.
Is it acceptable to change the setting "* Create a site under this
SharePoint URL:" to any production instance? If so, based on my
understanding, all the projects sharepoint sites will have to use the
same instance. In other words, all projects have to share the same
sharepoint instance. Is my understanding correct?
2) Does project server store any information about the linked
sharepoint instance in the database, even though WSS resides on a
different box?
Even if project server database contains some info about the linked
sharepoint, I would assume that we don't have to be concerned about any
SQL DB CALs for project server database, as the users would be
accessing sharepoint directly?
Thanks.
