I have found that inserting a picture file into a new Word 2007 document
using the Link to File option leads to an abosolute path for the picture. As
a result, the picture cannot be located if I open the document from a
different location, keeping the folder structure intact so that the picture
should still be accessible.
For example, the document/picture structure is as follows:
\Document1\Doc1.docx
\Document1\Pictures\Pic1.jpg
In order to simulate document relocation, I simply renamed the "Document1"
folder to "Document2" and attempted to open the Doc1.docx document. The
result was that Word 2007 complains that the picture cannot be found.
This is quite a major change in behavior when comparing to Word 2003. What
gives? Are there better solutions than using the INCLUDEPICTURE field code or
re-doing the picture to use a drawing canvas? These solutions are not easy to
implement on huge documents that have numerous pictures.
HELP PLEASE!!!
