Link to Outlook item from OneNote, causes "recurring" appointment?

When I open the "link to Outlook item" in One Note, it works fine and opens
the calendar appointment which it is linked to. However, when I close the
appointment in Outlook Calendar it becomes a "recurring" appointment. I want
the appoinment NOT to recur. Can anyone tell me how? I am using Office
Ultimate 2007.

Thanks

So is this a meeting item (it has attendees in Outlook) or an appointment item?
What type of email server do yo use?

And does this happen for every item you open, or just one? If every item,
could you post a step by step set of directions for how to cause it to
happen?

It’s an appointment item.
I am using a LAN type server.
This happens every time I open a “link to Outlook item†in OneNote.
Here’s the step by step:
I create an appointment (non-recurring), in Outlook and save it.
Next I open the appointment, select the Meeting Notes option on my menu to
create a link n OneNote.
A page automatically opens in my OneNote Unfiled Notes and a link appears in
a meeting note.
The note has the link encapsulated in it.
When I open the link it opens the appointment in Outlook.
When I save and close (without selecting the Recurring option on my menu)
the appointment then becomes a “recurring†appointment.
I hope this info helps.
Thanks.

Can you clarify what you mean by "LAN type server"? Are you connecting
Outlook to an Exchange server? Do you use a local PST file and connect to
a POP3 or IMAP server?

In Outlook, go to Tools | Account Settings | Email Tab. For each entry in
the list (there may be just one entry) what is listed under the "Type"
column?

Erik thanks for your input. Let me think about your question and John's,
because you are both asking me about my email server. My problem is a
straightforward link between Outlook and OneNote, i.e., I create a onetime
appointment and want to link it to OneNote and be able to access the link
back into Outlook.

In my scenario I am not using email nor am I dealing with a meeting, just a
direct link from OneNote back to a onetime Outlook appointment.

I hope I am not confusing matters, I am not very advanced with computers,
but I feel that I understand the concept of a link between an Outlook one
time appointment and a page in OneNote.

All I want is the ability to go back and forth from one to the other and not
create a "recurring appointment" in Outlook every time I do. If the Outlook
appointment would remain a onetime appointment when I link back and forth I
would be delighted.

Thanks
