Link to Previous In Header/Footer

Is there a way to turn off by default the "Link to Previous" in the Header/Footer tool bar. I know you can toggle it on and off, but would like to have the default set to Off rather than On.

In a word, no.

If you are doing this a lot, you could use a macro that inserts a Section
Break with unlinked headers/footers, or you use a macro that unlinks all
sections for you at once, depending on how much trouble VBA is for you.

On the other hand, Format Page Number doesn't require unlinking, and
StyleRef fields can also help you avoid unlinking.

Thanks, I will try that.
