Link two fields (ie. product & price) using an XML file

My InfoPath form references an XML file which contains product names
(itemName) and prices (itemPrice).

The aim is to have the fields linked in some way... when someone selects the
itemName from a dropdown, the text-box to the right shows how much the item
costs (itemPrice).


Currently, my dropdown works fine - it shows all of the itemName's in my XML
file. However, how on earth can I link it to the field next to it, so that it
shows the right value (itemPrice) depending on what's been selected in the
itemName dropdown?

Obviously I haven't done something correctly, because at the moment, the
'itemPrice' text-field on my InfoPath form always shows the itemPrice for the
FIRST thing in my XML file - it doesn't change depending on what's been
selected in the dropdown to the left of it.

Please reply if you need more data, or a sample of the form.

If you are not designing a browser-compatible form template, you can use the
Filter Data option to do a lookup for the price in the XML file and filter it
on the selected item in the drop-down. Take a look at this article, which
makes use of an Access database:

The concept is the same; just use your XML file instead of the database.
