linked and protected documents

Barb

I know what I want to do, but need to know if this is correct.

I currently have 15+ files (combined pages of about 400+). I'd like to
combine these into one file for ease of updating, on my end. However the
other users will only need to look at ONE of the files at a time, that I've
linked into
my "master" doc. So if I make my changes in the "Master" doc and by pressing
the Ctrl+Sh+F7 after I've saved my "master" it will automatically update all
'linked' files?

Also, I' like to Protect the Individual files so the other users can't make
changes without my knowing, however, when I do an update, it tells me Word
can't save the changes because the file is protected. Is there any way
around this part?
Thanks...
