Linked Excel tables causing error

I have just received a new computer and I am running
Access 2000. For some reason, I am unable to run queries
if I attach a table to a table that I created in excel and
then imported to Access. I get the following rror: "ODBC-
-Connection to FDYP failed." (FDYP is the database
name). As long as I don't link a table imported
from excel, the queries run fine. Has anyone else
experienced this?
