Linked Excel to Access error

Hi

I have (had) an Excel workbook consisting of 4 sheet
(6Mb). I created a link table option in Access to a
spreadsheet in the workbook. I needed to use an ext DB
table to update a specific column in the excel sheet,
which was then going to be used in turn to update another
db table as part of a conversion process.

The workbook open fine when linking, but after running an
update query in Access, it has corrupted my spreadsheet,
and keeps telling me an error report is being generated
when attempting to open the XLS. I cannot figure what the
error is as I cannot find the error report, nor can I link
to the table.

Are there any MS tools that fix these kind of issues and
or is it a simple as a copy/rename to recover? This would
be 1-2 days work to recover the lost data.

Hi Ian,

It's always a good idea to make a backup copy before doing anything that
might be irrevocable. Assuming you didn't, the following links may help:
