Hi
I wonder if some word expert could advise me and at the same time resolve an
inter office issue.

If someone send a Word file with a linked Excel spreadsheet, but fails to
send the spreadsheet, when I open the Word file, I get a request to update
the datasource, which clearly it cannot find.

Is there any other place in the Word document that indicates that it is
linked to an external file (depths of properties perhaps)

Yes, you can Edit the Links. Any links to other objects will appear there.
