Linked Index Page numbers

Okay, I'll try this again - seems I can see my postings, but don't think anyone else can, as Ed with the huge file size problem isn't seeing my replies.

Is there a way in Word 2000 to make the page numbers in an Index hyperlinks? The \h switch that does this in TOC, list of Tables/Figures inserts the letters or number headings in an Index.

Thanks to anyone who can see this - please just let me know that it can be viewed. I've waited over a half hour and while my reply to Ed appears in my list, my original question does not.

Your message posted fine, I see one reply to Ed but no previous post on this
topic.

ISTR that a hyperlinked index is a common desire that just isn't supported
in Word, but someone will probably be along with a better answer.

Thanks much for letting me know that I'm not invisible and that Word doesn't obviously supported linked page numbers in an Index. I suspected as much, but am hoping for a work around

If you Google for this, you'll probably find a lot of threads in which it
has been discussed and possibly one or two in which an elaborate workaround
has been posted. My impression has always been that it would be far more
trouble than it's worth, but then I produce documents for print, not for
online use.
