I am using MS Office 2003. I have several tables in a Word document
that contain data taken from a MS Excel spreadsheet. In total I have
about 1,600 entries. The Word tables more or less mirror the layout
of the data in Excel.
Periodically I update the values in Excel, and want the Word document
to update.
I just took over this function. Until now, the updating was done
manually, typing in the data. I have some experience with linking -
copy the Excel cell, then Paste Special / Paste Link. I have a few
questions.
1) Given that I have to link over 1600 cells to create the sheet
initially, is there any way to automate this - to do something other
than copy/paste 1600 individual times?
2) In theory, once I do this I should be fine. And if I have to
change the source to a different spreadsheet, I know there is a
function to Change Source. However, from time to time in other
applications I've had to navigate to a particular location in a word
document, and it's damn near impossible to figure out where it's
coming from. If you do Edit / Links, you get a list of all your links
in order as they appear in the Word document, but you can't just
navigate to the link you are at.
Thanks in advance for all help.
