Linked or synched text boxes

I notice that in the Accent Box Newsletter template there are some text boxes
that are synched ... that is, if you change the text on the first page, it
changes on the third page. I notice this in the Volume/Number box on the
first and third page. I don't know what that feature is called, nor do I
know how to create or eliminate this. I hope someone can help.

If you use a synchronized element, the undo synchronize will become active in
the edit menu.

You cannot create synchronized objects in Publisher easily. There is a
workaround JoAnn suggests.

As an aside,
The Accent Newsletter has four pages in 2000, 2002 and 2003 with synchronized
text boxes, in Publisher 2007 the Accent Newsletter has two pages and the
synchronization is gone.

Thanks so much for responding. I find the group icon (arrow head in box) but
can't seem to find the "synch" icon "boxes with dots around them." I've
looked in toolbars, but it doesn't seem to be there. HELP function was no
help!

This is JoAnn's workaround
"Start with a newsletter template. Delete out everything except for the
newsletter title on page 1. Change the format and the text to whatever you
want. You can copy and paste that text box as many times as you need, adding
pages as needed. Whenever you change the text in any one of those boxes, the
rest will change to match. Everything seems to be coded into that one text
box and I'm not the right person to figure out the coding into this.

Add in the rest of your text/graphics but the "newsletter title" text boxes
have to be separate text boxes. You can group them with other objects to
lock in place and it doesn't seem to affect the synchronization.

I haven't played with this a lot so there may be other caveats. Copying a
newsletter title text box into a new blank document and then inserting a
duplicate page seems to maintain the link. At least it does on the test page
I just made. "

. I guess you're right ... too much work. I'll keep the work around and see. In the meantime,

Do you know where to find the synch icon ... the one with the dots around
the box? I only can find the group icon, arrow in a box.

There is no special sync box... The synchronization is a hard code feature in
some templates. Take a look at the flyers in Publisher, scroll down to Sale
tear-offs. The tears-offs is an example of synchronization. As you can see they
have no special look to them.

There is a way to do this in Word.
