Linked Slide Masters

I have 2 slide masters that have a grey line linking them together. I want
to get rid of one. If I delete it, they both go. I want to duplicate the
other one and make some changes to it to use as one of my masters in a
presentation. If I duplicate it, I get both of them. Is it possible to cut
the link between these 2 and get rid of one?

I am fairly sure that what you are seeing is a slide master with a title
master. When there is a title master, it dictates how title slides are
handled. You should be able to click on the title master and choose the
option for Delete Title Master to get rid of it without getting rid of the
regular slide master.

Hi David,

I don't see an option for delete title master, there is only a delete master
icon and the same under edit on my tool bar. Any other thoughts?

Yes, that's what I meant. The option is delete master, but if the title
master is selected, it should delete the title master without deleting
the regular slide master.

Hi guys - even when the title master is selected and I press delete - they
both get deleted.

Anyone else have any ideas on how to delete the extra slide?

Also I want to have a graphic that always appears in my slide master - do I
have to use the footer box to put it in or is there a way to insert another
box to put it in?

What version of PowerPoint are you using? I'm looking in 2003. If I
select the title master and click on Delete Slide Master in the Master
Toolbar, then just the title master is deleted, and the regular slide
master stays in place.

For starters, are you using PPT 2003? If so, David's and John's replies are
right on the mark. In fact, if you select the slide master you will notice
that the Delete Master icon on the Slide Master View TB is grayed out
preventing you from deleting the slide master.

For the second part of your post: select the slide master, then click
Insert->Picture->From Clip Art or From File and insert your graphic. Once you
insert it on your slide master you can resize it. The graphic should appear
