There appears to be a bug in some installations of 2003 regarding the
Linked Table Manager. It's being investigated, but I don't know of a
solution yet, or even a clearly reproducible instance.

Please post some more information - your operating system, service
pack level, the version number of msaccess.exe, and whether you now
have (or have previously had) any other versions of Access installed;
this may help the gurus diagnose the problem.

In the meanwhile, you can apparently work with linked tables in VBA
code; or delete a frontend link to a table and use File... Get
External Data... Link to relink to it. Much more tedious than the LTM
of course!

I have the same problem. I have a new Dell Inspiron
running Windows XP professional. I have Access 2000 and
2003 installed. I repaired and re-installed Access 2003
after discovering the error, it made no difference. I
have all service packs for windows and office 2003
loaded.

The message that is displayed is: "Method 'List' of
object 'IFieldListWnd' failed". The MSAccess.exe File
for 2003 is dated 8/15/2003 12:54 am.

I tried it with an existing split database and after
splitting a new database. The application is using the
JET engine. I also tried converting the file from Access
2000 to Access 2003 format without any change in the
symtoms or error message.

Sincerely,
Jean Murray

Again... It's a bug. I don't know of any way to fix it. It's been
reported to Microsoft and they're investigating. I wish I could help,
but I can't!

All I can suggest is that you write VBA code to do the relinking (see
http://www.mvps.org/access or http://www.lebans.com for sample code),
or just delete the tables from the frontend (deleting the link) and
use File... Get External Data... Link to relink the tables.
