Linked tables and network security

Can linked tables in a folder otherwise blocked by network security (NOT
Access security) be read/written to from a front end not in a blocked folder?

Thanks.

Hi FL Don,

What do you mean by "blocked by network security"?

Network security regulates accesss to files by network user. If you, as a
network user, are blocked from a folder, then the files in that folder are
not even visible to you. Forget reading/writing, you wont even see them.

Not necessarily. You can have a hidden share, but still give users access to
it. That way, they won't be able to find the file through Windows Explorer.

That's why I wanted to know exactly what the OP meant by "blocked by network
security"

Hi FL Don,

It has been my experience that you cannot refresh a link to a file on a
Windows Network to which you do not have the necessary network access rights.
Although I haven't verified this with MS Access, it is true with MS Excel.
