I have an environment running a mixture of Win 98/XP and MS Access 97 &
Access 2002 computers. Application that is causing problem is an Access 2002
database (on local drive) linking to tables in an Access 97 database (on
network drive) under Win 98 on a PIII (64MB RAM). Opening even the simplest
table (no more than a dozen records) takes more than a minute.
By comparison a 2002 FE (local) & 2002 BE (network) configuration, the table
opens almost instaneously. Likewise a 2002 FE (local) & 97 BE (local)
configuration.
Likewise a 2002 FE (local) & 97 BE (network) under Win XP on a P4 computer.
Option to upgrade all PCs to common Office 2002 platform not feasible at
present (we are a welfare agency with minimal infrastructure funding).
Any suggestions on cause of slow network performance would be appreciated.
Thanks.
