Linked tables

Hello,

I did build an access 2007 application with 2 frontends, one on the
production floor for data entry and one in the office for data evaluation.
The tables for both frondends are located on the server and linked to the
frontends. When I start one frontend it is active in a few seconds. But when
one frontend is active and we want to startup the second one on the other
workstation, it takes more then 4 minutes to get any response. In between
there is a popup that says that windows cannot find the frontend file (I
think that the reason is a timeout). Ignoring this message results in the
end that the application starts running. We did try out several scenarios
but the result is always the same. A second application linked to the tables
ends up in a very slow system.
Does anyone recognise this and give me a hint how to solve this problem.
Thanks

Hans Kemper

1) Make sure you copied the front end itself and not a shortcut of the
front-end.
2) Make sure that the paths point to the local copy of the front-end.
3) Try hovering the cursor over the linked tables and double-check the paths.

If it takes 4 minutes, it probably means that Access is opening a file on
the network somewhere and not a local file.

Hope this helps
Ray
