Linked workbook formulas giving N/A

I am having a problem with formulas in linked workbooks returning the
correct value when the Recovery Master.xls workbook is closed.

In cell C23 is the formula:
=IF('G:\Common\Back Office Pride\Recovery\[Recovery Master.xls]Team
DVR'!$C23= 0, "", 'G:\Common\Back Office Pride\Recovery\[Recovery
Master.xls]Team DVR'!$C23)
If the Recovery Master.xls workbook is open or closed it returnes the
value:
BCBS new to pend Non Clm

In cell C24 is the formula:
=IF('G:\Common\Back Office Pride\Recovery\[Recovery Master.xls]Team
DVR'!$C24= 0, "", 'G:\Common\Back Office Pride\Recovery\[Recovery
Master.xls]Team DVR'!$C24)
If the Recovery Master.xls workbook is closed it returnes the value:
BCBS pend to pend 潎汃ṭ
If the Recovery Master.xls workbook is open it returnes the value:
BCBS pend to pend Non Clm

In cell C25 is the formula:
=IF('G:\Common\Back Office Pride\Recovery\[Recovery Master.xls]Team
DVR'!$C25= 0, "", 'G:\Common\Back Office Pride\Recovery\[Recovery
Master.xls]Team DVR'!$C25)
If the Recovery Master.xls workbook is closed it returnes the value:

潃灭敬整†潎汃Ὥ牐捯獥⁳剄⁇摁番瑳敭瑮†潎汃⑭
etc.
If the Recovery Master.xls workbook is open it returnes the value:
BCBS Pend to Complete Non Clm

In cell C26 is the formula:
=IF('G:\Common\Back Office Pride\Recovery\[Recovery Master.xls]Team
DVR'!$C26= 0, "", 'G:\Common\Back Office Pride\Recovery\[Recovery
Master.xls]Team DVR'!$C26)
If the Recovery Master.xls workbook is closed it returnes the value:
#N/A
If the Recovery Master.xls workbook is open it returnes the value:
Process DRG Adjustment Non Clm

In cell C27 is the formula:
=IF('G:\Common\Back Office Pride\Recovery\[Recovery Master.xls]Team
DVR'!$C27= 0, "", 'G:\Common\Back Office Pride\Recovery\[Recovery
Master.xls]Team DVR'!$C27)
If the Recovery Master.xls workbook is open or closed it returnes the
value:
"Refund Requests" Non Clm

The only thing that I have found that corrects the problem for a short
time is changing the value of the cell. When I do that the #N/A and
foreign charactures just moves to different cells but always in column
C. If I delete the contents of the linked cells, save the workbook,
reinsert the verbage and save it again the links work for awhile but
after a week or so the get corrupted again. Any ideas would be greatly
appreciated.
