Linked worksheet crashes

Have users machines that are crashing in Office2000SR1
SP3 updated on updated 2000 box with Norton 8.1 updated.
Opening file and crash can be within seconds or minutes.
I have opened file on my machine and stayed open, did not
crash but have had it send Microsoft Error when dallying
too much with editing content. Office 97 supposedly fixes
this with this and these files that are linked. Any ideas?
