Linking a book template together with chapters

Can we link a book template in a way that links chapters together
dynamically? This would mean that changes in the chapters could be updated
directly to the book
template.

(very carefully) use a Master Document. But note that your concept of
"template" seems to be faulty. All of the chapters should be based on the
same template; a template is a foundation for documents, not something into
which they are gathered.
