Linking Calendar to Contacts birthdays

Used to be that when I put a birthday in for someone in Contacts it would
appear on my Calendar. Don't know what I did other than normal Office
updates, but there is no longer a linkage. How do I set this up again?

Open a contact with a birthday entry, change the contact in some way (by
changing something to itself), then save the contact. The birthday should be
added to the calendar.
