Linking cells

Unlike normally where you link a master spreadsheets to
slave spreadsheets..I want to link the slave spreadsheets
to the master. I have smaller spreadsheets that are
updated by others and I wanted the master updated when
that happens...

example: Someone adds a row with new info..I need to be
sure that it adds it to the master, but so far all I get
is a row of 0's if the field is empty..doesn't do much for
me when I'm trying to sort...Any ideas will be welcomed.

Rhonda,

Are you really sure you wish to change a MASTER?

If I am understanding this, there are many people that have their own books
and then their books are going to be linked to the MAIN database base
spreadsheet? You should be able to reverse the lookup formula that will
insert the data into the MAIN sheet. Are you using VLOOKUP?

0's, check your cell formats. They should be the same as the sheet that is
being brought in. Also, is the slave sheets save before bringing up the
MAIN book? I know that sound dumb, but I have seen dummer things happen.
Do you get the prompt , "contains automatic links" when the MAIN is opened?
To update the cells, this must happen and clicked yes.
