Linking contact to appointment or task

I have a BCM contact open and I want to schedule a task or appointment with
that specific contact. I go to “Actions>New Appointment With Contact†and it
opens a calendar appointment window, but there’s no link to the contact.
Likewise if I go to the “New>Appointment†under the “business contact history
items†it will create the appointment, but when I open the appointment there
is no link or indication of the contact.

To link I need to go to “contacts†button at the bottom of the appointment
window and find the contact and then link it.

Is this the way the program operates or am I doing something wrong?

You are doing this correctly as described and that is the way the program
operates. When you initiate the creation of the appointment from the
Business contact you have only effected a 1 way link that displays
exclusively in the Business Contact History record. You essentially must do
a manual reverse-linking back from the native Outlook item (the appointment
record) to the BCM item (the business contact record) in order to effect a 2
way navigatable link between these 2 items. Remember that BCM is a SEPARATE
added in application to Outlook. They share the same UI and are made to
appear like one app however there are quirks like this involved that you will
need to understand and adapt to using.

Thank you for the answqer, even though it certainly wasn't the one I wanted
to hear.

I gotta say, that is a convoluted way of doing things!

If I were in the habit of suggesting changes, that would rank up at the top.

Thanks again!

ooman,

I agree. I have developed VBA code to accomplish this I got so tired of
doing it manually. I've been playing around with BCM 2007 and you can get
back to the contact from the task which is nice.
