Linking Data from excel to shapes

Is it possible to link only specfic columns of data from a excel spreadsheet.
I have imported an excel spreadsheet with 8 fields and I want to link only
three fields to a shape. I am using the Auto link, I want to be able to
compare three fields of the data with three fields in the shape if they
match, then I want to link three completely different fields to the shape and
only those three fields. Example: If spreadhsheet fields Bus, Enc, Slot
equals the Shape fields Bus, Enc, Slot then link database fields Size, Speed,
Name to shape.

I would strongly suspect that it would require custom code (the challange is
the requirement for the linking to be based on three fields)

I have no problem with linking the data using three fields( Automatic Link).
The problem is that all colunms of the record are linked to the shape and I
only want certain data fields( colunms).
