Linking dBASE IV tables in Access XP, Access 2003

Hello

I developed an applikation in Access 95 and transfer this to Access 97, and
now to Access XP and Access 2003.
In Access XP and 2003 with the jet 4.0 i have problem with a linked dBASE IV
table with 35 MByte. The index is on only one fields an the mdx is about 7
MByte.
The selects are where slow. Compare to Access 97 factor 10.
With filemon from sysinternal i found that the programm reads the dbf and
mdx. But it reads always the hole dbf file.

Any idea ?
