Linking Enterprise Resource Pool and Project Professional 2003

When you create a Master Resource Pool (desktop version) you are able to link
your Projects to it and view the resource usage showing the availability of
resources and their assignments.
Can you do this in Using Project Web Access? Currently the only way I have
been able to get it to work is by opening the existing Project on the web
server. This is not a problem when you only have one Project posted. But with
numerous projects on the server this seems problematic.
Did we miss something on the install? I have found no information other than
a general description on using the Enterprise Resource Pool.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not too sure but I think you can create a custom view in Portfolio
Analyzer.

After you create an enterprise project, you must build your project team
using Tools - Build Team from Enterprise, and then you must assign your
resources to tasks. After you save your enterprise project again, you can
apply the Resource Usage view and see your resources' assignments in your
project and in all other projects in the system. You can also see resource
assignments in all projects in PWA by navigating to the Resource Center page
and clicking the View resource assignments link in the sidepane on the left.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for your help Dale,
Your description is how we have been building the projects. Our problem is
that after creating the project and entering the resources and saving it to
the server when you reopen the project you only see the resources and their
assignments in relationship to the that project. The only way we have found
to view other usage for the resources is to open the additional projects.
This seems wrong to me.

When you log into Project Server from Microsoft Project Professional, you
need to make sure that the "Load summary resource assignments" option is
selected in the Project Server Accounts dialog. After you click the Connect
button and open the project, you can apply the Resource Usage view and see
assignments in other projects for the resources on your project team. Hope
this helps.

Thanks Dale,
I appreciate your help. I tried what you suggested and it does display the
projects the resource's are assigned to. Should it also display the
resource's assignments within each project.
Example: Resource "X" is assigned to Project "A". Project "A" runs over a 1
year period of time. Resource "X" is assigned to multiple tasks within
Project "A".Should the "Resource Usage View" show the tasks within "Project
A" that Resource "X" is assigned to or would it show only that Resource "X"
is assigned to project "A"?
Once again I appreciate your help.

If resource X is assigned to tasks in Project A, Project B and Project C,
and I have only Project A open, the software will show the following:

Each task assignment in Project A
A single line representing all of the assignments in Project B
A single line representing all of the assignments in Project C

If I open both Project A and Project B, I will see all of the task
assignments from both Project A and Project B, but only a single line
representing the assignments in Project C. The system will always show you
all assignments for each resource in all of the open projects, and a single
line for the assignments in each project that is not currently open. Does
this answer your question? Let us know.

Dale,
Thanks very much for your help. This did answer my question. I do however
wish it would show all resource assignments without requiring that the
project files be open. But all things considered it is a great improvement
over our past system. The more time I spend working with Project Server 2003
the better I like it.
Thanks again for all your help and patience with my endless questions.
