"Linking" enterprise resources

K

Keith Thomas

I made the mistake of creating PWA resouces outside of project... Now they
are PWA users but not enterprise resources. I'd like to create the
enterprise resource and have that resource "linked" to the existing PWA
login.

The problem I've had is that when I try this (creating the user again from
Project), then assign them a task, that task assignment does not show up in
their webview as an assigned task.

What do I need to do???

Kith:

What do you mean when you say "when I try this (creating the user again from
Project)"
What steps are you taking? Are the resources showing up in the resource pool
when you do this?
You've stated two problems, you need to solve the first before the tasks
will show.

I try to create a enterprise resource from within MS Project 2003. I use
the same name and Windows login information as was created for the PWA user.
Although the new person (resource) appears to be "linked" to the PWA user,
when the PWA user logs in, he has no tasks assigned

If you were successful in creating the resource, then you'd need to publish
assignments to the resource before they'll see any tasks. I'm not sure that
you've successfully created the resource, however. If not, you might try
setting up the resource in an mpp file on your workstation and then using
the Import wizard to import the resource from the plan. This does a better
job of matching the user and resource.
